Sorry for the silence. This summer has proved super hectic with all my other commitments, so I'm afraid the quietness over here will continue for some time... I will have to figure something out at some point, but for now, all I can do is promise that it's not the end... not yet.

I just had to drop by in order to point you towards a preview of Beth Ditto's long-awaited collection for Evans. Deena of Fat Girls Like Nice Clothes Too! scanned in an interview with Beth from The Sunday Times Style supplement, and it's full of pictures of her upcoming line.

In my last post (cast your minds back a bit!) I gave a brief introduction to the wide and wonderful world of mineral makeup. Since then I have been trialing an independent makeup brand called Purity. They do a wide range of foundations, bronzers, blushers and some gorgeous nail varnishes. I had the opportunity to test out their mineral foundation. Here's a quick run down of their products for you lovely divas.

I have found it difficult to stick with mineral foundations in the past, but using Purity's mineral foundations was a doddle. With the lovely finger sponge applicator, the foundation went on fuss-free. It gives great coverage and still allows your face to breathe. I've never been a huge fan of powder foundations, but this one definitely gave me hope and with a promise of no artificial ingredients, these cosmetics really do put a smile on your face.

You can purchase Purity Cosmetics from their website. Its rare to find such a cute website to accompany such gorgeous products. The simple yet professional design really does these products justice. A rare find on most makeup websites, is a guide on how to apply mineral makeup, as many of us (including myself) have got it wrong in the past!

The prices are around what you would expect for mineral makeup, (£12.00 for a foundation) but it really is worth it. The amount of foundation you receive for that price is quite a bit more than most retailers.

Purity is a great brand for those who are 'dipping their toes' into the world of mineral foundation. The products are great and easy to apply.

This is a really gorgeous brand, with a personal touch. And as a bonus, the items that you order from their website come in this gorgeous packaging!

How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my personal style as classic, I guess. I like to wear clothes that reflect a kind of vintage aesthetic - structured shapes and timeless designs. That said, I love having things that you don't see everyone on the street wearing - I buy a lot of clothes and accessories online, especially from Etsy, because you can get custom-made pieces that are unusual one-offs. The plus-size fashion range in Australia is pitiful and I hate that size 16+ Aussie girls are having to wear exactly the same outfits because there's nothing else out there for them. It's actually one of the reasons I started Frocks & Frou Frou (my fashion blog). I read a lot of plus-size fashion blogs, but more often than not they were featuring items from stores that didn't have online shopping or wouldn't ship to Australia - I wanted to help the other non-US plus-size girls find the resources that would allow them to develop their own style outside what the few plus-size retailers in Australia were offering.

What are you wearing today?
I'm wearing a Torrid dress that I bought secondhand from a fellow Fatshionista. It's out there, but I love the psychedelic poppies! The shoes are from ZuShoes. I'm not sure where the bracelet came from - Himself gave it to me about seven years ago!

Little plastic treasures

I just had to share this cuteness with you. I couldn't resist taking advantage of the discount, which Red Plastic Factory kindly offered DLB readers the other day (hey, I count as a reader as well right? :D).

I got my goodies yesterday (which was super fast!) and I must say that I'm more than pleased. The quality is top notch and the Rib Cage necklace is even more gorgeous in real life than it is in pictures. And just look at the adorable packaging! I for one am one happy customer. :)

How would you describe your personal style?
I consider myself a bargain label hunter. I love high end designers mixed with vintage and budget concious finds from walmart, target, thrift stores, and consignment. I love to test out new looks from skinny jeans with sneakers, to cardigans with ruffley tops and slacks. I am a cornocopia of style and I believe that no trend is off limits for plus size women. Style is both individual and universal so I like to try everything at least twice. I have one rule that I live by when getting dressed: Color, bling, and texture!

What are you wearing today?
This is an Ed Hardy shirt that I picked up in the Men's section at TK Maxx. I modified it myself by cutting off the sleeves and making bows at the shoulders from the scraps. I wore it as a tunic and paired it with simple black leggings, yellow patent pumps, and some rough cut coral chip hoop earrings that I made myself. I love this outfit because it shows off my curves, while allowing me to have that high end sex appeal on a budget. Don't be afraid to cut a shirt!
