Goodie Bag - New Year's fashion resolutions
The Goodie Bag feature is where I host little contests and promotions, which give you a chance to bag yourself something nice and add some cheer to your day.

Since this is the first contest of the year, the question will most likely come as no surprise to you. I would like to know if any of you made any fashion/style-related New Year's resolutions, and if so, what were they? Did you decide to clean out your closet, change your style or maybe just to make more of an effort? I'll tell you about mine when I'll announce the winner next week.

En nyt erityisesti mitään lupauksia tehnyt, mutta yritän olla tekemättä heräteostoksia ja pitää vaatekaappini siistinä. Ja laittaa ne vaatteet sinne vaatekaappiin, kun niin usein ne tuppaavat jäämään viikoiksi lattialle.
Lupasin ostaa vihdoin ja viimein Minna Parikan kengät itselleni (+parantaa kulutustottumuksiani ja alkaa liikkumaan)! :)
I will take better care of myself - more excercise, more healthy food and less unhealthy treats, I will take better care of my skin and so on. :) I have already started so hopefully I'll succeed.
And of course, if I take care of myself I also look better in my clothes, and it's also much nicer to go shopping if you don't hate what you see in the fittingroom!
Lupasin, että yritän olla vähän säästäväisempi vaatteiden ja kosmetiikan ostamisessa. Hmm... mitenhän sekin onnistuu? Lisäksi lupasin olla syömättä karkkia vähintäään kuukauden, mutta se lupaus rikkoutui jo :D
Tuo torahampailla varustettu huulikoru on ihanan vampyyri-henkinen ja söpö, aaaw. :-)
Yleensä en tee mitään lupauksia, korkeintaan toivon toteuttavani jotain. Tänä vuonna toivon löytäväni paljon kivoja vaatteita ja uskaltavani pukeutua juuri niin kuin minusta tuntuu. Jonkinlainen karkinhimon hillitseminen (karkin korvaamiseksi olen keksinyt pokkariperjantain) ja terveelliseempi elämä yleensä olisi ihan hyvä... Toivon myös käyväni kirpparilla enemmän ja tekeväni tilauksen Forever21:ltä. :-)
Aion opetella käyttämään kirpputoreja!:) Se oli siis muotiin liittyvä. Muuten petraan liikunnan kanssa ja pidän kirjaa kulutuksestani. Ja itsenäistyn!<3
Lupasin pitää huoneeni siistimpänä ja pitää niitäkin hameita, jotka ovat jääneet vähemmälle käytölle. :)
turhien vaatteiden oston suhteen on jo tehty parannus, joten tänä vuonna käydään läpi korut, myydään ylimääräiset ja käytetään ahkerasti niitä, joista tykätään :)
My resolution is to wear what I want without feeling that a plus size girl like me can not wear it. Also, I want to grow into my own style and post more outfit posts on my blog.
My resolution is to make a point to wear my jewelry. I have all these cute pieces but I usually forget to wear them.
Varsinaisesti en tehnyt lupauksia, mutta tavoitteena on yrittää pitää kaapit siistinä ja välttää turhan roinan haalimista.
Yritän koota uusia asukokonaisuuksia, jotta ne vähemmänkin käytetyt vaatteet pääsisivät välillä ulkoilemaan. Lisäksi yritän välttää ostamasta itselleni/tyyliini sopimattomia vaatteita, ts. harkitsen enemmän ostoksiani.

Many years ago I made resolution not to make any new years resolutions because they always fail. And that is the only resolution that I have actually kept. Allthough it is not resolution, I am planning on cleaning my closets finally and get rid of everything that doesn't fit me anymore and also other clothing that I haven't worn in years. I wan't to make my wardrobe better matching and better quality than it is at the moment... but it is not resolution, so if it doesn't happen this year don't demand my head on a plate =)
I would love a crack at the goodie bag. My fashion promise to my self, is to get more bold with the make-up.
The last time I made a new years resolution was way back in school when I was in the 9th grade. That too it was an impromptu one. As our class teacher asked each one of the 50 students what was our new year resolution. I made one spontaneously and I followed it through out the year. I have never made any resolutions thereafter. However, one habit which is hard to curtail is that of over-indulgence when it comes to shopping. I try to convince myself in to buying only clothes & accessories that I would really wear. This has somehow been put in to regular practice since I moved to U.S. last year. I have a lot of vintage jewellery passed on to me by my mom, instead of just stashing them in my jewellery box, I am going to wear them more often. Also, I am going to include dresses and jackets in my wardrobe.
Yritän siivota kaappeja, oikeastaan mitään muuta vaatteisiin liittyvää lupausta en ole tehnyt. :-)
My resolution is to stop relying on accessories so much and to wear the pretty clothes I own every day instead of tshirts and jeans all the time.
I posted a whole blog post of resolutions at http://mydailyfashionkatie.blogspot.com/2009/01/thoughts-resolutions-ramblings-and.html but as far as fashion ones:
1. Less black, more color. I work in a professional office environment and everyone there dresses fairly conservatively. But that doesn't mean I have to dress hum and glum just to fit the mold - that would be boring! When I feel good about what I am wearing, I am more confident, and when I am more confident, I perform better at work! So many of you lovely ladies dress so brightly colored and it just makes me want to start with a whole new fresh and colorful wardrobe! Which leads me to my next item.
2. Work with what I have! (No pun intended - although I DO LOVE this chicas blog!) My husband and I young, newly married, both working full time and more... and we are just getting started in life, trying to save some moolah for our future kids/home/life/etc. so we are on a tight budget! I am determined to "shop" my own closet! I have lots of individual pieces of clothing - I just have to get new ideas on how to put outfits together!
3. Sell old clothing at consignment stores. We have a great little store in Hickory called "The Style Exchange" and you can take in your "name brand" clothes that you don't wear anymore, and get store credit to buy other cool stuff that is gently used, but still "new" to me! I particularly like to buy jewelry at this place. It's like trading stuff in!
4. Belts! Ok, so I see belts everywhere these days! (This diva LOVES belts more than anyone I know! And they look FABULOUS on her!!) I LOVE them on other people, but have not ventured into wearing them myself... I am self concsious about my shape because I don't feel like I am hourglass shaped enough... my waist is nearly the same size as my hips and bust! Argh. BUT I believe there is hope, is there not ladies? Perhaps belts will cinch my waist and make me feel more curvey!
5. Shoes! I MUST find more colorful shoes! All I really have is black and brown... but recently have purchase a red pair (which I have been dying for for a LONG time!) and a green pair of flats. I think that as long as I pair basic colors up with bold "accent" colors I'm good to go! As long as the shoes match the accessories I feel "together"! (I have to say that this chica has some of the most fabulous shoes/color combos I've seen! I am totally inspired by her keen sense of fashion! I always look forward to reading London's posts!)
6. Accessories. I don't have many colorful necklaces, etc. and I have NO rings except for my wedding ring... so I'd like to glam up that part of my wardrobe for sure - of course this will all be money spent after trading in old clothes... This girlie always has cute broaches, etc. that I adore!
7. Blog Daily. I must say, since this is my 43rd post, I feel like I am doing well to still be sticking to this blog! At least for weekdays, I am consistantly blogging my "daily wear" and the main source of motivation is from all of the fabulous blogs listed on the right of my page - all my fave blogs that I read everyday!!!
8. Pause and Think. I am bad about seeing a cheap buy, and thinking "hey it's cheap, sure why not"... when really I don't need it at all, and it doesn't even look that good! Before I swipe my card, I need to ask myself the following questions:
* Do I really want/need this?
* How often do I think I will wear it?
* Would I buy it if it were not on sale?
* Do I already have something similar to it?
* How much have I spent this month on clothes?
8. (continued) after evaluating the situation, I will make a decision. But no more rushed, impulse buys
9. Continue to be inspired! I want to continue to read all of your lovely inspirational fashion blogs and be inspired!! :-)

En nyt varsinaisesti luvannut mitään, mutta saattaisi olla ihan kannattavaa vähentää shoppailua ainakin hieman (mikäli haluan saada vuokran maksettua...). Aion siis opetella luomaan uusia yhdistelmiä jo kaapista löytyvistä
vaatteista uusien oston sijaan.
Lupasin käyttää vähemmän rahaa vaateostoksiin ja pyrkiä hyödyntämään enemmän kirpputoreja sekä kaapista jo löytyviä vaatteita. Tähän liittyen lupasin käydä läpi kaappini, jotta tietäisin mitä oikeastaan edes omistan. :)
My fashion New Year's Goal: wear heels at least once a month. Hopefully even more often! I'm pretty tall, so I always have shied away from heels, but this year, I am going to wear them!
Lupasin ostaa vain laadukkaita kenkiä ja laukkuja, mieluiten tietenkin aitoa nahkaa, koska hajoilen aina kun jotkut kengätkin hajoavat :( Ylipäätänsä yritän suosia muutenkin ekologisuutta teoissani, joten turhien rättien kotiin raahaaminen loppui!
I haven't made any special resolutions, I'd end up forgetting/breaking them anyway. I just hope that I could afford to buy quality clothes that last longer.
